The very last Transporter T6.1s have now rolled off the production line in Hanover. An end to a great era. But not to worry, because a new chapter is coming: the new Volkswagen Transporter!
Available in many models, the new Transporter can be put together completely according to your wishes. You can choose a short or long wheelbase, in addition there is also plenty of choice in terms of drive. Whether you prefer a diesel engine with or without four-wheel drive (4Motion), a plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) or fully electric: everything is possible!
This combined with the unmistakable Tonke interior makes a great bus camper.
The new Volkswagen Transporter (T7) is larger than its predecessor. The van is 15 cm longer on the outside and also slightly wider. Moreover, the cargo space is 61 mm longer and the width between the wheel arches has even increased by 148 mm compared to its previous model. This provides even more options and much more living space inside the campervan.
The new Transporter has a sleek design and comes with LED headlights and LED rear lights as standard. In addition, the van is even more richly equipped as standard than before, including an advanced electronic parking brake with Auto Hold function, a stunning 12-inch digital instrument panel (Digital Cockpit) and a high-quality infotainment system with DAB+, wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, online services, and a generous 13-inch touchscreen. The multifunction steering wheel, rain sensor, Lane Assist lane assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist and dynamic traffic sign recognition with one-way traffic warning make every drive safer and more comfortable. Expand the infotainment system with a navigation system, the comprehensive mobile online services of VW Connect and VW Connect Plus (standard with the navigation system), and for music lovers – a stunning Harman Kardon audio system that brings your favourite music to life.
Motorisation
The new Transporter is available in many motorisations and two lengths. Currently, Volkswagen offers the following options:
Diesel
Plug-in-hybrid
All-electric
More specifications will follow as soon as possible
We believe the new Volkswagen Transporter is an interesting new model to build on. Because it is a bit larger than the T6 in terms of interior dimensions, it creates even more opportunities for conversion, larger bed, etc. It is a model Tonke sees a lot of potential for and will also start developing something for this platform. It promises to be another innovative design including the famous swivel kitchen and a generous bed downstairs. In September 2024, the new Transporter will be unveiled at the IAA in Hannover. Sales will start after the summer 2024.
