The end of the year is approaching. Normally, things quiet down in the showroom at this time of year, but there’s no sign of that yet! We are still welcoming lots of lovely new people who are interested in the ID.Buzz and the EQV. But I am already looking back on the past year. It was a good year for me. That is mainly because the responsibility for the company is also shared by colleagues, which gives me peace of mind. This allows me to focus more on developing new motorhome models, which is of course a very enjoyable part of the job. We are currently developing a camper based on the new Ford Transit / Volkswagen Transporter. We will decide which of the two it will be soon, but it doesn’t really matter: they are almost identical!
The background is as follows: between 2013 and 2023, we built almost 1,000 motorhomes based on the “old” Transporter. This was our first series-built motorhome. It was a huge success and, of course, they are all still on the road. In the meantime, there is a successor to this Transporter, also known as the New Transporter or T7. This vehicle is actually a Ford Transit. Both models are manufactured in the same Ford factory and therefore have an almost identical technical basis. The basis will therefore be identical, but the interior design, styling and equipment may differ. But most importantly for us: it is an excellent basis for a motorhome. The vehicle is available with three different powertrains: fully electric, plug-in hybrid or diesel. The latter is also available as a 4×4. I have high expectations for the plug-in hybrid in particular. Unlike most plug-in hybrids, which have a fairly small engine, this car has a very robust powertrain with a 14kWh battery (55km range) and a 2.5-litre petrol engine with a combined power output of 233hp. The diesel version may still be sold sporadically to people who want a 4×4 drivetrain. I don’t expect much from the fully electric version; the battery is simply too small for a motorhome. You’re better off choosing the beautiful EQV or ID.Buzz. We will be marketing this new motorhome in two lengths. For us as motorhome builders, it is great that the interior is 20 cm longer and 12 cm wider than the old Transporter. I can’t say much about the layout variants yet, but there are some very nice layouts with super smart solutions. Our aim is to incorporate the comfort and spaciousness of a larger bus camper (think Ducato, Sprinter, etc.) into this camper. And my impression is that we have MORE than succeeded in doing so. I therefore expect a lot of enthusiasm for this camper, as it can be used on a daily basis but still offers all the adult comforts of a larger camper! We will be sharing more news about this in the coming period and will be launching the motorhome in the spring.
